We had a wonderful time! Living
in a French village has been a dream of ours for years and we cannot
imagine a better place to experience this. Your lovely home makes
it even more special with your charming décor, warm colors, the
heavenly bed and of course the snug.

Your House was
lovely and very well restored in keeping with its origins. We had a
lovely holiday and the surrounding area is so beautiful.

We are in love with your house,
with Caunes and with your friendly neighbors. We covet your
appliances (so quiet!) and loved pretending they and the house were
really magically ours for two weeks.

Just to say how much we have enjoyed
staying in this lovely house in a gorgeous part of France. We
head off now to Turkey, which will also be great, but we will miss
this area - we have eaten ourselves fat from the markets, sampled
much wine, tried to justify that by climbing up as many Cathar castles as
possible, and otherwise thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You have done
a fabulous job with the house - you must get so much pleasure out of
it.

We are now
back at home in Sweden after our long stay in your wonderful house
in Caunes. We found the town and the house very relaxing and enjoyed
our stay tremendously, especially the dipping pool which gave much
pleasure to us all after our jogging tours in the vineyards every
other night.

We arrived back
from Caunes yesterday. We had a fabulous time, you were right the
place is beautiful! We saw a lot of the area and also enjoyed
relaxing in your perfect house and pool. Madame had left fresh
flowers and bread in the house for our arrival, it was such a nice
touch.

We have enjoyed an incredible
four weeks here at the Maison des Remparts. I wandered around for a
couple of days just enjoying the colors, textures and details of the
house. My favorite restaurant is L’Oustal à Citou”. We discovered
it two years ago and the owner remembered us. We did a lot of
hiking. We stopped for wine “dégustation” whenever possible and
loved to listen to the French talk about their wine. What a
pleasurable trip.

We have
returned home to Ireland after a very enjoyable holiday. I am
writing to thank you for the use of your house in Caunes for the
past three weeks.
We have stayed
in many holiday homes in Ireland and France, yours certainly is one
of the best from the facilities and equipment provided and the sense
of "home" about it.
The village of
Caunes Minervois is also exceptional. It is alive and thriving.
We totally
enjoyed our stay, there just was not enough time to see and do all
we wanted.

Words cannot describe the
wonderful experience we have enjoyed: the cheese man, medieval
cities, vineyards and delightful people.

We explored every road and byway
in Cathar Country, wineries included. Maison des Remparts was well
provided with everything a visitor could desire, including a useful
selection of guide books and brochures.
Sight seeing suggestions:
Fanjeaux (spectacular view), LaGrasse (spectacular everything),
Abbey La Fontfroide (near Narbonne), Canal du Midi and the olive oil
shop L’Oulibo near Bize Minervois.

Today is a
glorious day here. Sunny, warm, yet breezy. The house is keeping
wonderfully cool inside. We are going to spend the day lounging
around the house and the village.
Thank you again
for sharing your house with us. We had never seen this part of
France before, and we are very taken with it. We spent the evening
in Toulouse yesterday - what a bustling, beautiful city too!

It seems our
vacation is winding down, we are off to London in an hour or so. We
loved Minervious and, of course, this cozy house. Now if we can
just figure out how to get all this wine home...
It was a
beautiful stay with great weather, great accommodations endless
memories.

We are here!
Your home is lovely! We found the way ….after an adventuresome self
navigated drive down some very interesting streets. James Taylor
is in the background and we enjoyed baguettes on the back porch.
Thank you.

Thank
you for opening your beautiful house to us. Our stay her has been
restful, comfortable and ry after a week on a barge—and most
welcome. We arrived the night before the Fete de Marbre, an event
that gave us access to local food and crafts along Caunes’ Rue de
L’Abbaye.
We went
to the Montagne Noire, Carcassonne, La Cité and Toulouse…
And we
spend long hours comparing the merits of every chair, armchair,
cushion and pillow throughout your house, carrying around mugs of
coffee, cups of tea and glasses of wine. Thanks again!

Hello
Daphne & Dennis! We just received your fabulous package. So
complete. So organized. So beautifully done. We are impressed and
grateful for this wealth of information. (We figure one of you must
be a marketing professional -- yes?) B. & P. S. Floridax, Castres,

So much
to see and only one week to hit it all. Carcassonne, Narbonne,
Béziers, Mirepoix, Fanjeau and even Perpignan. And the house…this
is a wonderful and beautiful place—you are both very lucky.
Comfortable and cosy for the cooler evenings and equally as pleasant
for breakfast on the terrace. The weather has been kind, some
breezes and some sun. Thank you for a lovely week.

Wonderful house! Perhaps the best we’ve rented in the last 15 annual
vacations to his area France. This hous is “user friendly” which is
a rarity. The directions for everything from the showers to
computer are readily available and easy to use.

We arrived yesterday and found your home in perfect order. Today the
winds and weather has improved and it is a lovely spring morning.
Kate is just in love with the house as it it so much what we
envision and enjoy.
There is more room than we anticipated, and as you can see were able
to get the wireless up and running without any trouble.

Thank you
very much for sharing your second home in Caunes Minervois. The
property is beautiful and you are to commended for the wonderful
restoration job. Indeed we came home with many ideas which we intend
incorporating into our own 1874 stone converted schoolhouse.

What can we
say? We are so sad to be heading home after three wonderful weeks in
your beautiful home. We love France and especially this part and
have visited many times. This has been the best yet. We enjoyed
our busy days sightseeing and our lazy ones reading and dozing on
the terrace. Lovely local days visiting the marble quarry, Notre
Dame du Cros and the lovely surrounding villages. Was in awe of
Lastours. The sun shone nearly every day. The coffee, the
patisserie and the baguette were great and this is a marvelous
village and house. What more could we have needed?
Thanks,

The
house was more than perfect, we had such a wonderful time. We
looked at your before pictures and during construction pictures and
were amazed that you saw the vision that became the Maison des
Remparts .
Our
very first breakfast was on the upper patio overlooking the village
gardens. The weather was perfect, the bed unbelievably
comfortable. We spent most of our indoor time in the kitchen or
back patio unless it was raining and then we moved to the side
patio. As I'm typing this note, I can feel and see your wonderful
home.
I
know our friends from Holland were also impressed with the Maison
des Remparts and enjoyed their time there.
Thank
you for letting us share your second home.

You have a wonderful house and the children have spent the afternoon
sculpting at the Caunes annual fete today! We have explored the
village and would rate it as one of the nicest we have seen on our
trip through France so far.

It was an excellent vacation. The
house was well-appointed with everything we could need. The
information that you left was very helpful. We really liked Caunes,
and found the people incredibly friendly and helpful. We even got a
French lesson from the baker. We were particularly impressed with
your selection of books--cookbooks and otherwise. I have already
ordered the Wines and Winemakers of the Languedoc Roussillon by Paul
Strang from Amazon.com.

The house
exceeded all of our expectations, as did the area. We loved the
decor, drooled over the stove, and enjoyed several nights in the
"snug" with a fire in the fireplace. We loved eating in the kitchen
as it is so light and airy. Dave and I enjoyed the lovely pull for
the toilet in the master bathroom.

Since we also have an old house
(1700s) we know how much work and effort you put into the wonderful
restoration of your home in France. It's all very tastefully done;
it could not have been made any better.
Even though we have our house in the
Tarn et Garonne since 25 years, we have never been in that part of
France. It was very interesting for us how the landscape changes
from the flat plane to rough hills with deep gorges, all within a
few minutes drive. Needless to say the wine is also very good.
Thanks again for the wonderful week
that we spent at your house.

I just wanted to let you know how
much we loved your house and Caunes Minervois!! I must admit we
really had no idea where we were going - we had just fallen in love
with your website. It was beyond anything we could have imagined -
the house, the beds (can you buy that mattress in the US?) the
village, the scenery, the wine, the Cathar history etc, etc. We
even got to practice our college French and mingle with the locals
at the "snack bar". We can't wait to return very soon.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas
there!
